Thursday 12th August – bike **** – Around Felixstowe including breakfast at the Ferry – sunny periods.

Hoped to get out on the bikes this morning but woke to an overcast day which was not very inviting so had a bit of a lay in. Then a bit of blue appeared so we decided to take breakfast to watch the boats on the Deben at Felixstowe Ferry. We did not leave home until 9.30 biking down the hill at the end of our road bumping straight into our friends the Hurrell down for the weekend in their caravan, it was great to see Linda out on her bike after a knee operation. After a chat on the prom we continued to the Fludgers with the sky turned grey again. Then inland before heading down the windy path to cycle all of the quiet prom at The Dip, past the golf course stopping at our favourite spot on the River Deben with views across to Bawdsey Manor for our yummy breakfast. Despite the tide being fairly low there were a few yachts but the highlight was kingfisher that whizzed about before a canoe scared it off! Then on to the Ferry for yet more pics before heading out on the River Deben path with the corn fields now looking impressive. Turning off at Kings Fleet we take Marsh Lane to the woods at The Grove, now being completely spoilt by a huge building site now underway there, man has the habit of really messing things up:( Through the town centre stopping at Tesco to buy a local paper as I have a pic in it:) Home for lunch, I was tempted by another foiling session this afternoon but in the end decided to give it a miss, the rain arriving did not help. The rain was short lived so I did my exercises in the back garden before dozing off. Hopefully I can get out on the water somewhere tomorrow?
